AAY Story
The story of the film ‘Aay’ is about a software engineer named Karthik, who works in Hyderabad. He is angry with his father Buraiya because Karthik had to leave his college seat in childhood due to lack of money. Buraiya is a sick, unemployed and helpful man whom Karthik has always resented. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he returns to his village and starts working from home.
While living in the village, Karthik re-establishes friendship with his childhood friends Subbu and Hari. During this time, he meets a college student named Pallavi and the two fall in love. Pallavi is the daughter of a powerful leader Durga and both belong to different castes. Pallavi clearly tells Karthik that their relationship cannot move forward due to the caste discrimination in society, so she agrees to an arranged marriage.
Subbu and Hari try to kill Durga to unite Karthik and Pallavi, but the attempt fails hilariously. Eventually Buraiya himself meets Durga and asks for Pallavi’s hand in marriage for his son. Durga agrees to the relationship as Buraiya had helped him financially earlier, which he has never forgotten.
The film ends with Pallavi and Karthik getting married, and Karthik learning to value his father and friends. ‘Aay’ is an emotional yet light-hearted story based on casteism, family relationships and friendship.
