Gandhi Tatha Chettu Story

Gandhi Tatha Chettu At the beginning of the film, Ramachandraiah (Anand Chakrapani) tells his granddaughter Gandhi (Sukriti Veni Bandreddy), “It takes time to win with love.” The dialogue comes when Gandhi asks something she heard from her friends—did India get independence late because of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent struggle? On the occasion of 76th Republic Day, this film tries to revive the fading Gandhian ideology.

The story of the film begins in a village in Telangana, where the mobile and internet had not reached in the 2000s. Here a huge neem tree (voiced by Tanikella Bharani) introduces the village. The story revolves around a teenage Gandhi and her friends, but it also raises issues such as deteriorating agriculture, migration, education, environment and gender equality.

The village sugar factory is closing down, leaving the farmers in financial distress and ready to sell their land to a chemical factory. But Gandhi’s grandfather Ramachandraiah is adamant about saving his neem tree and land. Gandhi struggles to save this tree following the Gandhian ideals of her grandfather.

The first half of the film moves along as expected, but the second half brings some interesting twists. When Gandhi is frustrated with the methods of her movement, her friends suggest a new path, which brings hope to the village.

The film raises an important question—can small efforts bring about big changes? Even though the film has some flaws, it forces one to think about the relevance of Gandhian ideology.

Movie Review

Gandhi Thatha Chettu is a film that highlights Gandhian principles and answers some of the common prejudices and misconceptions of the current generation. Today’s young generation often raises questions on Mahatma Gandhi without having the correct information, such as “Gandhi Ji used to hang out with girls” or “India got its independence late because of Gandhi Ji.” This film not only shows the truth behind these questions but also teaches how to win the hearts of one’s opponents through non-violence and patience.

Re-relevance of Gandhian principles
In today’s times where violence, anger and the desire for quick results are prevalent everywhere, this film makes a great effort to show the power of non-violence and patience. The story of the film revolves around a teenager named Gandhi, who learns Gandhiji’s ideas from his grandfather Ramachandraiah and tries to adopt them in his life. When the villagers agree to sell their land to a chemical factory, Gandhi stands up against the decision to fulfill her grandfather’s last wish.

Learning to win through non-violence

The film shows that true struggle is not won only by fighting, but can also be won through love, patience and confidence. Gandhi does not hate his opponents, but tries to convince them through his ideas and confidence. The film also shows how a single person, if he moves towards his goal with confidence and concentration, can achieve success and also unite others.

Not entertainment, but a lesson in life
This film is not for those who are only looking for entertainment. It is an inspirational story that teaches us to have patience in life, keep walking on the right path and adopt non-violence during struggle. The message of the film is very deep and relevant, especially in today’s time when people make hasty decisions and resort to wrong methods to reach their goals. This film helps us understand that the solution to every problem can be love, patience and integrity, not violence or anger.

A must watch film for the present times

Today when people lose patience during conflicts, start fighting over petty issues and are forgetting social values, such films can bring about a change in the society. This film teaches us how Gandhian principles are still relevant and how by adopting them we can achieve success in our lives.
