The 2025 Telugu film “Laila” is an action-comedy drama directed by Ram Narayan and produced by Sahu Garapaty under the Shine Screen banner. The film stars Vishwaka Sen in the lead role, who plays a skilled beautician named Sonu Model. The story of the film begins from a beauty parlor located in the old city of Hyderabad, from where a light comedy along with many interesting twists emerges. In the film, Sonu’s life suddenly gets complicated when he, while trying to help others, gets himself caught in a false case and to save himself, he disguises himself as a woman and becomes ‘Laila’.
Vishwak Sen’s performance in the film can be said to be worth watching, especially for his acting in a dual role. Though the film has some funny moments and humorous scenes, it fails to connect with the audience due to the inconsistency and mismatch in the script. “Laila” is a film based on an interesting idea which fails to come to fruition.

Movie Review
Laila is a 2025 Telugu language action-comedy film starring Vishwak Sen in the lead role. The story of the film revolves around a unique character “Sonu Model” who runs a beauty parlor in the old city of Hyderabad. He is a skilled beautician who is admired by women. But his life turns upside down when he becomes the target of the anger of a local goon Rustam and a corrupt police officer Shankar. To escape from them, Sonu disguises himself as a woman and hides as “Laila”. The rest of the story revolves around this identity – how he saves himself and his parlor by becoming Laila.
The comedy and incidents in the first half of the film keep the audience engaged. Sonu’s character is interesting and Vishwak Sen has played his role well. However, the second half of the film weakens. The story starts falling apart and the audience’s interest gradually decreases.
Many critics have called the film vulgar, but to be honest, it is not as vulgar as it was being promoted. The film has comic elements that work in places, but in some scenes, the humour seems forced and cliched. Actress Kamakshi’s track in particular shows some racial slurs that are jarring and may make the audience uncomfortable. This is something that the makers should have shown more sensitivity towards.
Talking about the songs, they are average – neither very memorable, nor very bad. The background music is okay. The romantic track of the film is weak and the chemistry between the hero and heroine fails to impress the audience.
On the other hand, the characters of actor Abhimanyu Singh (Rustom) and other comedy artists like Pinky or Sub-Inspector Shankar seem weak and full of overacting. Only Vishwak Sen has kept his character in balance to some extent. The setup and production value of the film looks good at some places, but the story does not get hold of it.
A man impersonating a woman in a film is not new to Indian cinema, but a similar track running for almost an hour starts to tire the audience. And especially when the emotional or social aspect of the story is not clear.

Conclusion
Laila is a film made with a different mindset, in which a mixture of comedy and social identity is seen. Although the film starts off interesting, the second half weakens. Vishwak Sen’s performance is fine, but the performances of the other characters do not seem impressive. The music is average and the romantic track is weak. Some of the comic scenes are hilarious but the story lacks depth. The film is not completely entertaining but if you want to watch something light and different then you can watch it once. Overall, it is a decent experience.
