Zebra Story

“Zebra” is a financial crime thriller film directed by Eashwar Karthic and starring Satya Dev and Daali Dhananjay in the lead roles. The story revolves around Surya (Satya Dev), a bank employee who is in love with his colleague Swathi (Priya Bhavani Shankar) but cannot gather the courage to tell his parents about his relationship.

One day Swathi gets into a serious problem and to save her Surya gets involved in a dangerous game. He has to pay Rs. 5 crores in just four days to a dreaded gangster Aadi (Daali Dhananjay). It seems impossible for an ordinary bank employee to raise such a huge amount. But Surya’s courage and cleverness help him to get out of this mess.

The story takes many turns—sometimes emotional, sometimes thrilling. Surya’s struggle, his compulsions, and his decisions make the story more interesting. Satya Dev’s performance is impressive, and Daali Dhananjay too is perfect in his role. The supporting cast has also contributed well, especially Sathyaraj, Sathya and Amritha Iyengar.

The weak links of the film are its slow pace and some unimpressive scenes. Some parts of the story seem weakly connected, and some scenes lack logic.

Overall, “Zebra” is a thriller that is partially successful, but manages to hold the attention of the audience with its acting and drama.

Movie Review

‘Zebra’ is a financial crime thriller with a few shades of comedy. The story revolves around banking scams, frauds and personal struggles. The film stars Satya Dev, Dali Dhananjay, Sathyaraj, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Sathya in pivotal roles. All the actors have performed well in their roles, but the biggest appreciation goes to Sathya who, as always, entertains the audience with his witty dialogues and screen presence.

The biggest highlight of the film is its core theme and the performances of the lead actors. Satyadev has played his character with seriousness and precision, while Dali Dhananjay also gets a lot of screen time in the film. However, some viewers felt that Satyadev’s character was a bit weak and Dali Dhananjay’s entry and acting were not as impressive as expected, especially when he was given so much screen time.

The positives of the film include a strong story, good screenplay (except for a few places), and strong performances from the lead actors. Satyadev’s presence and his acting scene by scene strengthens the film. Also, the theme of the film which revolves around financial scams and manipulations, seems quite relevant in today’s times.

At the same time, the weaknesses of the film are its slow-paced screenplay and some loopholes which come to the fore especially in the second half of the film. A reviewer also said that the introduction of the Devil in the film was relatively weak and his character did not leave the kind of impact that is expected from a villain. Satyadev’s character, which can be considered the soul of the film, has been made to feel somewhat suppressed. Twists and turns are expected in the film as a thriller, but the story moves very straight till the climax, which reduces the level of mystery and curiosity to some extent.

Still, “Zebra” is a film that you can definitely watch once, especially if you like financial thrillers and serious acting. This film can become a good option for entertainment on the OTT platform. Despite its weaknesses, the story and the hard work put in by the cast make it worth a watch.

Overall, “Zebra” is an average but watchable thriller with some great performances and a solid theme, making it worth a watch.
